"By listening and learning, we can drive meaningful change"
This pivotal project aims to capture a comprehensive snapshot of how LGBTQ+ professionals and others working in the UK mortgage market perceive the industry today, identify areas for improvement, and foster a greater understanding of inclusion across the sector.
Running for six weeks, the survey will provides a unique platform for LGBTQ+ individuals to voice their experiences, perspectives, and aspirations – although it is open to anyone, with all members of the industry encouraged to take part to get a broader view on perceptions across the industry.
With areas of the research designed to cover lived experience of LGBTQ+ people at all levels and sectors; intermediary approaches to advising LGBTQ+ clients; HR and management support for LGBTQ+ employees and more, the initiative is designed to assess key issues such as workplace culture, representation, career progression, and overall inclusivity.
The results of the study will be unveiled in a comprehensive report in February, coinciding with LGBT+ History Month, to underscore the importance of reflection and progress and offering valuable insights and actionable recommendations for PIFA members and other businesses in the industry.

Amy Loddington, Pride in Finance Alliance project lead, said:
“The financial services industry has made strides in recent years, but we know there is still work to be done to ensure that everyone receives the support and opportunities they deserve. This survey is a vital first step in understanding the current landscape and identifying the barriers that remain for LGBTQ+ people and their allies. We’re calling on all members of the community to share their voices and help drive meaningful change.”
William Lloyd-Hayward, Pride in Finance Alliance project lead, said:
“We are delighted to be launching this survey to help capture the vital data to set the benchmark for the Alliance to build upon. One of our key commitments is to help understand where our sector is now, identify the key challenges we face and work together to draw upon some of the best practice already out there to drive the change we all want to see. I would like to encourage everyone to share this survey far and wide through their network.”
Mark Harrington, CEO of Pride in Finance Alliance members L&C, said:
“As a founding member of the Pride in Finance Alliance, L&C is proud to support this inaugural survey. It will provide a critical platform to better understand perceptions within our industry and to highlight where improvements are needed.
"By listening and learning, we can drive meaningful change and ensure financial services become a more inclusive and supportive space for everyone.”
